The event is a fund raiser for the Dorchester Grange Scholarship Fund. The fund was established over 40 years ago to provide guidance, support and financial assistance to the graduating high school students from Dorchester who desire the challenge and opportunity to further their education and go on to college or advanced technical training.
We recognize that higher education comes in many forms - two or four year colleges/universities, vocational schools, technical programs, police or fire department training, the Military, etc. - and will consider all types of instructional institutions to determine eligibility for our scholarship award.
We believe that all children deserve the chance to pursue their dreams and actively encourage our students to take full advantage of all educational opportunities afforded them.
The Walk-A-Thon portion of this event has been going strong for 15 years and has enabled all Dorchester high school graduates who qualify and go on to continuing education to receive cash grants along with computer systems to support their continuing education.
Part of the scholarship qualification process is participation in the Dorchester “Going Places” event.
